But just one year of NYSC in Bayelsa,  and what is returned home is the child's corpse! 💔

APC rejects Edo, Bauchi Assembly inaugurations

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has rejected the inauguration of a few members of the Edo and Bauchi states House of Assembly, describing supposed election of principal officers behind closed doors as a joke and an embarrassment to Democratic practices.
In a statement by the National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, the party asked the governors of the two states to issue what it called a proper letter of proclamation for the inauguration of the state assemblies.
The party disclosed that every elected member of the state assemblies is entitled to participate in the inauguration and election of the principle officers of the state assemblies.
The statement reads: “The All Progressives Congress (APC) condemns the charade being presented as the inauguration of new State Houses of Assembly in Edo and Bauchi States.
“We viewed this illegality with shock and disappointment. As a party that has made a commitment to change, we strongly reject any attempt to take recourse to brigandage of the past, when democratic practices were defined by the inordinate whims of people in power. Democracy must be governed by the rule of law.

“A situation where 11 lawmakers in the 31-member Bauchi State House of Assembly and nine lawmakers in the 24-member Edo State House of Assembly were secretly ‘inaugurated’ and purportedly ‘elect’ principal officers behind closed doors is a joke and an embarrassment.

Inspiring’ protester becomes symbol of resistance for Sudanese women.

The image is striking: a young woman, alone, standing above the crowd, urging them on with songs of revolution.
Taken on Monday night in the centre of Khartoum, as tens of thousands thronged the roads in front of the heavily guarded complex housing the headquarters of the military and the feared intelligence services, the picture of the woman in white with gold circular earrings has become an icon of a protest.
Lana Haroun told CNN she had taken the picture.
“She was trying to give everyone hope and positive energy and she did it,” she said. “She was representing all Sudanese women and girls and she inspired every woman and girl at the sit-in. She was telling the story of Sudanese women ... she was perfect.

Lessons from a Capricorn .

Capricorns have too much pride to say “no” to people though. They want to be looked up upon and they need to uphold their reputation. They believe that if they don’t manage, they will be seen as weak and they can’t have that! This mentality is exactly why they end up with too much on their plates.
They are like a walking timebomb. Just a little trigger could set them off.
As I grew older, I realized that keeping feelings in could probably help you only for the time being, but not in the long run. Your bad feelings is like an animal, and caging them up for too long will only drive them insane. Gradually, they will start scratching at your insides wanting out, and one day, they will, whether you want it or not. Happy Birthday to All Capricorn ....

Bolton FC keep their coach despite allegations he threatened his mistress with a knife and paid her 10k to shut up..

Bolton Football Club have decided against sacking Neil Lennon as coach after it was revealed three days ago that the BBC Pundit allegedly threatened his mistress 20 years his junior with a knife when she told him she would tell of their romance to his wife. The Bolton coach even allegedly offered to give his mistress $10,000 to shut up according to reports from Sunday Mirror.

According to the report, he met his mistress, who police have refused to reveal her identity, in a pub and the romance kicked off from there. He was said to be open about the affair in front of colleagues, inviting the girl to stay in the Bolton team hotel the night before match days.

Things went sour after the mistress found out 44 year old Lennon had been dating a third woman, and she told him she will reveal their relationship to his wife. Lennon then turned nasty, telling her someone “could” put a knife to her throat if she spoke out. A week later he offered her £10,000 cash to end their relationship. She did not take the money.
“He told me he’d pay the money and I could start afresh,” said Kim (the imaginary name given by the mirror). "I honestly thought it was his way of looking after me. He’d used to say he loved me, that I made him a better person. I believed this was his way of helping me move on. But I decided I didn’t want his money. I didn’t want to be bought.”
Days later, with Lennon in Ipswich overseeing a Bolton defeat, Kim knocked on Irene’s door and confessed to the affair. Kim claimed:

“When I told Irene about what had been going on, her reaction was one of sadness more than surprise. She invited me in and we talked things through. She even poured me a glass of wine. I sent her a voice recording I’d made of Neil’s rants at me. "She apologised on his behalf.

Lennon told police he was being blackmailed, even though Irene McCloy, his partner and mother of his child, had already been told of the affair by Kim.

Kim said: “Neil Lennon’s ruined my life. He told me he loved me and made me feel part of his life. But just like he has cheated on Irene, he was doing the same to me. When I found out, he became a monster. "He made me fear for my life. He set powerful lawyers on me – and I found a police officer challenging my behaviour. "But no one is too powerful to bury the truth.”

After conducting investigations privately, Bolton Wanderers football club released the following statement.
''Bolton Wanderers Football Club can announce that they have now concluded an internal investigation into an article published in The Sunday Mirror on Sunday 20 December. The club has dealt with the matter internally and acted accordingly, details of which will remain private. Neil Lennon will remain in charge of the first team squad. The club will be making no further comment on the matter."

Swimmer Michael Phelps rues mistake in 100 metre freestyle final

Michael Phelps lamented his mistake at the turn of the US national championships 100 metre freestyle final, which saw him finish in seventh.
The 18-time Olympic gold medalist came out of retirement in April, but Wednesday's race in Irvine ended in disappointment for the 29-year-old.
Despite the pre-race build-up focusing on the battle between old rivals Phelps and Ryan Lochte, it was reigning Olympic champion Nathan Adrian who took the spoils in a time of 48.31 seconds.
Phelps was made to pay for a poor turn at halfway and was unable to recover sufficiently to challenge the leaders, clocking 49.17secs.
A top-four finish would have seen Phelps qualify for the US team to travel to the Pan Pacific Championships later this month, although he will have further chances to clinch his spot in other disciplines.
"When I literally took a couple kicks and I barely passed the flags, I knew there was very little chance that I was going to run anybody down," he said.
"It just kind of stinks that I missed the first wall.
"I'm just trying to get a spot on the team and go from there.
"I am ready to have a day off and get ready for the 100 metre fly."

LAGOS — The 31-year-old man, who allegedly strangled his 39-year-old international business woman lover to death in her apartment at Green Estate, Amuwo Odofin area of Lagos, last month, told a crowd yesterday that he did it out of jealousy.
The suspect, Kelechi Williams, who was paraded at the Lagos State Police Command, was arrested at the border between Ghana and Cote D’Ivore by operatives from the Area ‘E’ Command, Festac Town and those of International Police, INTERPOL, while fleeing with the deceased’s Range Rover Sports Utility Vehicle, SUV, with number plate LAGOS EKY 509 AZ.

The incident, according to him, occurred on July 19, 2014, at about 2 am during an altercation over the late arrival of his lover, a mother of four identified as Njideka Lizzy Nzewe.
How she was killed
Narrating how he snuffed life out of the deceased, the suspect, who hails from Umuji in Ndemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, said: “Lizzy was my girlfriend. I knew her three years ago. But we started getting serious in February this year.
“I came back from Ghana to visit her on July 16, 2014 which was on a Wednesday. The next day we went out and came back late.
“On Friday, she told me to stay back at home and rest because I was tired. She left the house, saying she was going to the new apartment she was to pack into, assuring me she would be back as usual by 6 p.m.
“But she did not return by 6pm. Rather, the gate man came with a power generating set, saying madam had gone to drop the workers.
“When it was 8 p.m. and I did not see her, I started calling her on phone but she did not pick. I called her up to 30 times without response.
“She came back by midnight and when I asked why she did not pick my calls, she said the phone was in silent mode. I brought out my phone and called her line only for it to ring.
“At that point I noticed she was drunk. I got angry and asked if that was the way she would pay me back for leaving everything in Ghana to come and spend time with her. I threatened to quit the relationship. But at that point, her phone rang and I told her to pick it but she insisted that I should pick it and when I did, the caller, who was a male, asked ‘baby are you home?’
“Immediately she discovered it was a male’s voice, she snatched the phone from me and asked why I should pick her calls. I reminded her of a similar incident when she came to visit me in Ghana and my phone rang. She pick it and on discovering it was a female, she smashed the phone on the ground, without knowing who the caller was.
“I reminded her also that she collected my other phones from me and brought them to Nigeria. In anger, I took the phone and smashed it on the ground.
“Before I knew it, she threw my things outside, saying I should leave her house. I told her to give me the N300,000 she borrowed from me to buy an air conditioner, if she wanted me to leave but she said she had no money with her and gave me her ATM card which she said had just N140,000.
“At a point, she slapped me and we started fighting. She held on to my manhood and started stretching it. That was when I held the wrapper that was around her neck and used it to strangle her, thereby forcing her to let go  my manhood. She fell down and became motionless.
“Immediately, I took her three phones, ATM card and went outside to meet the gate man to see me off to any ATM machine, where I withdrew N100,000.
“I dropped the gateman at home, and told him I was going to pump the tyre. At that point, I knew I was in trouble. I did not go back to her house for fear of being arrested.
“I drove straight to Mile Two, from where I picked a driver who drove me down to Ghana. I spent some days in Ghana before I decided to leave for Cote d’Ivoire, where unfortunately I was arrested.
“I never wanted to kill her. I have never fought in my life, let alone kill somebody. I did not also steal her jewellery and N8 million as claimed by the Police. The only money I withdrew was N100,000 and her phone.”
Suspect gives thanksgiving in church
Briefing newsmen earlier, the command’s boss, Umar Manko, said after the suspect killed the woman, he locked the door from outside, apparently to make it look as if they had gone out. He further disclosed that a new International Passport which bore the suspect’s name and the surname of his deceased’s lover, was found on him, suggesting that the motive was pre-empted.
Back in Ghana, preliminary investigation, according to the Police, revealed that the suspect took the SUV to church, declaring it was his. Police sources said he made an unspecified donation to the church and also threw a party to celebrate the new car.
How I discovered my madam’s corpse—Guard
On his part, the gate man, John Tungwim, said he suspected something was amiss when the suspect dashed out from the apartment that night.
According to him, “he told me he was going to the club with madam but that she asked him to go and withdraw money with her ATM card first.
“I went with him because I know madam’s pin code. But we came back, he told me to go inside that madam said she was tired and could not go. So, he drove out alone.
“I never suspected anything until the next day when I did not see madam. I called one of the children’s attention to it. Out of curiosity, I climbed a ladder only to discover that madam was on the floor foaming in her mouth. I contacted her brother who called in the police.”
